Naveen Patnaik, presently Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly and former Chief Minister of the State, has set a precedent by announcing a donation of multi-fold salary increased by the State Government. The Opposition leader has refused the increased salary by writing a letter to the State Government. Instead, he announced a donation of the salary to the welfare of poor families. Notably, the State Government has recently increased salaries to the MLAs and Opposition leader.
