Lucknow Development Authority approves base map for UPSCR
The base map will now be presented to the Executive Committee of the UPSCR for approval. After receiving final approval, the regional plan will be prepared. The UPSCR will increase investment and create employment and business opportunities.
Projects for developing a transport city, an orbital rail corridor, and a metro network have also been proposed. Projects for industrial development, logistics parks, food parks, and the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway corridor-oriented development have been identified to strengthen the economy.
The base map for the Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region has been prepared. For this, opinions were sought from 22 organizations, including the relevant development authorities, the Revenue Department, the Public Works Department, the Railways, the Forest Department, the Municipal Corporation, the Irrigation Department, and the Uttar Pradesh Town and Country Planning Department. All departments provided their consent after reviewing the base map. The base map was presented at the review committee meeting, where it was approved.
The State Capital Region is being developed, encompassing Lucknow, Sitapur, Unnao, Hardoi, Barabanki, and Rae Bareli districts, with a total area of 26,741 square kilometers. A GIS-based regional master plan is being prepared for the UPSCR. Thirty projects have been identified for transportation and mobility, economy, infrastructure, and tourism.
UPSCR includes projects for the State Capital Mala (Regional Road), an elevated peripheral road, and road upgrades to accelerate connectivity between the six districts.
To authenticate the base map of UPSCR, ground truthing has been done in all the 6 districts. In this, along with the consultant, the concerned departments have also gone to different places and matched the data obtained from satellite images and maps. In this process, ground truthing has been done at a total of 2239 places.
Additional District Magistrate Rakesh Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Srivastava, Additional Secretary CP Tripathi, Chief Town Planner KK Gautam along with other officers and consultants were present in the meeting.
