SAIL PROJECT SCAM: Panda also treads the path of Soma and Amarendu?

SAIL PROJECT SCAM: Panda also treads the path of Soma and Amarendu?
Leadership changed but SAIL continues to be an institution where Corporate Governance, Code of Conduct, Vigil Mechanism and Whistle Blower’s protection take the back seat. Should it not be considered that it is their stated philosophy which as unconditional full support from the Ministry of Steel and Independent Directors?

Will the new CMD SAIL Panda remove Ahuja or keep reaping the benefits through him like his predecessors?

Ahuja must clarify whether the decision to sell 4,500 T of TMT Bars to a Bokaro based trader, using the DoP given to him for Projects, was his own or he was obeying someone else’s instructions

Over 11,00 T sold even after the Venkatesh’s complaint

The shop of OM Enterprises is at a stone’s throw distance from the Bokaro branch of SAIL-CMO

With continuation of Ahuja as head of sales, should it be assumed that Panda thinks that Ahuja is the best candidate for the job as all other in CMO are even more dishonest

Amarendu Prakash took over as Chairman SAIL on May 31, 2023 when Munish Ahuja was Region Manager of Eastern Region. Before being suspended on Jan 19, 2024, Ahuja sold over 55,000 T to FAKE PROJECTS under the leadership of Amarendu.

Before submitting his resignation on Jan 02, 2026, Amarendu ensured that Ahuja is made head of sales of CMO. Although it is an Executive Director’s post, Amarendu made him head of sales despite Ahuja being Chief General Manager only overlooking the Executive Directors of CMO.

Although till date many cases of FAKE PROJECTS have been exposed by Bureaugram.com, but the present case is special as the firm concerned OM Enterprises is Bokaro based and supplies were initiated to it in the month of July 2020 just two months before Amarendu went to the city as Director In-charge Bokaro Steel Plant.

The post was never advertised by PESB, no applications were invited and no interview was held. Through the process which openly violated the principle of equal opportunity [all individuals must be treated fairly and without prejudice], Amarendu was clandestinely placed on the chair of Director In-charge, Bokaro Steel Plant [DIC-BSL] in the name of board. The process of reorganisation had already started in May 2020 and being the board member of SAIL as Director (Raw materials and Logistics) [D(RM&L)], Amarendu was fully aware that he would be DIC-BSL soon

Who decided and how it was decided that he was the best suitable candidate for the post of DIC-BSL when the eligibility criteria for the post of D(RM&L) and DIC-BSL were substantially different? Possibility cannot be ruled out that had Amarendu not been appointed as DIC-BSL through back door without a fair competition, he could have not been so resourceful and not become Chairman SAIL. Who knows? The root cause of the untimely end to his tenure as Chairman could be this one- time exception where probably the right candidate was not selected as DIC-BSL.

Coming to OM Enterprises, the Bokaro based construction material supplier/seller dealing in Cement, TMT Bars, Pipes and Colour Coated Profiled Sheets, from July 2020 to Oct 2023, Ahuja sold 4,500 T of TMT Bars to the trading firm from Bokaro and Durgapur branch at heavy discounts, inflicting huge loss to SAIL. The following photos would make the readers amply clear what the firm is, a Trader or a Project.
