Rudranath Infra and Constructions P Ltd: Another fish in sea of project scam of SAIL

In yet another part of project scam, the SAIL officials sold about 7,000 Tonne of  TMT Bars by giving heavy discounts in the name of ‘Project’ resulting in loss to SAIL in lakhs.

Rudranath Infra and Constructions P Ltd is registered at “Tower F-2122, Sector-79, Noida, Gaur Sportswood, Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar” which is a residential address.

Firm was formed on July 11, 2023, got GSTIN on July 26, 2023 and SAIL officials started supply of TMT Bars to them from August 2023. Unmatched Speed! Starting from August 2023 SAIL officials supplied about 7,000 Tonne to the firm till June 2024 by offering heavy discounts misusing the policy and guidelines applicable for firms who are doing Project / Construction work.

It has been gathered that sales to the firm were affected by Jaipur branch of SAIL-CMO. Sources say that the price approvals for the above sales must be given by T N Natrajan as he was the Regional Manager there. It is noteworthy that he is the same person who has been recently been selected as Director (Commercial) of SAIL by the Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) under the Ministry of Steel.

Even order of LOKPAL was ignored by SAIL officials

It may be noted that the modus-operandi adopted by SAIL officials with RUDRANATH INFRA AND CONSTRUCTIONS P LTD was the same as was adopted by SAIL officials in the supply of 1,50,000 Tonne of steel to M/s Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd.

Therefore, chief attraction of supply to RUDRANATH INFRA AND CONSTRUCTIONS P LTD is the audacity of SAIL officials in continuing the supply to the firm even after the order dated January 10,2024 where LOKPAL handed over the sales issue of M/s Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd to CBI. Not only the matter was handed over to CBI but LOKPAL made scathing remarks on the functioning of SAIL and directed SAIL to formulate a clear and unambiguous policy with regard to MOU, pricing and relaxation.

Height of the matter is that immediately after order dated January 10 ,2024 of LOKPAL, 29 officials were suspended by Ministry of Steel on January 19, 2024 but even such an act could not deter SAIL from supplying steel to Traders in the name of Projects.

On the directions of Lokpal of India, CBI has already registered  F.I.R. No. RC2182024A0021 on 10.10.2024 u/s 120B, 420, 468, 471 IPC and Sections 7, 9 and 12 of the P.C. Act, 1988 as amended against the erring senior officials of SAIL, M/s Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd and M/s APCO Infratech P Ltd.
