REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. (RECPDCL), the wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd., handed over a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)- Lakadia II Power Transmission Ltd. to M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL) emerged as the successful bidder for the inter-state transmission project titled “Transmission system for Integration of Power from RE Projects in Lakadia REZ in Gujarat-Phase II (7500MW)”.

The SPV was handed over by T S C Bosh, Director (Projects), REC Ltd, to Arup Samanta, General Manager (CS), PGCIL, in the presence of Amit Bhargav, ED (TBCB), PGCIL, and other senior officials from PGCIL and RECPDCL.

The transmission project broadly envisages establishment of 765/400 kV, 6x1500 MVA & 10x500 MVA, 400/220 kV Lakadia-II substation (Near Chitrod) with 2 Nos. of Synchronous Condensers at the Lakadia II substation; 765 kV D/c Lines from Lakadia II to Halvad (141 km), Lakadia II to Ahmedabad (197 km) and Lakadia II to Vataman (261 km) along with other associated works. The project is scheduled for implementation within 36 months.
