Rampant corruption: WAPCOS in damage-control mode?
With the exposure of alleged corruption and irregularities in WAPCOS/NPCC, a CPSE under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, the company is reported to be making all efforts to cover up through media.

According to sources, the CPSE is facing mass terminations without notice, widespread resignations, zero new contracts, and even rejection of the Delhi Jal Board proposal to engage WAPCOS as executing partner by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. Revenues are allegedly being projected from “savings” generated by staff terminations rather than fresh business.

More serious allegations include centralized allocation of work without tenders, promotion of officials to sensitive roles in contract division despite vigilance red flags and explicit ministry directions for action, and running the organisation through officers already under CBI radar—suggesting promotions aimed at ensuring continuity of corruption. Officials further allege the CMD operates through a single external advocate acting as a mandatory gateway for contracts, transfers, and postings who has worked with her in previous posting. Reports of senior NPCC officials spending Christmas in Goa with contractors, allegedly finalising transfer deals—one followed by immediate posting orders. All these reportedly reached higher authorities. Some insiders remark that meeting the Prime Minister is easier than securing an appointment with the CMD without clearing the mandatory “gateway”, as per sources.
