The redeveloped Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium has been inaugurated with an investment of ₹2.89 crore, comprising ₹1.42 crore NTPC–CSR funds and ₹1.47 crore GVMC General Funds.

The modernised facility now features four indoor shuttle badminton courts, sports flooring, a modern gym, 8 dormitories, 8 toilets, drinking water facilities, improved lighting, electrical and plumbing works, painting and essential structural repairs.

The facility is aimed at providing better training and opportunities for young athletes and sportspersons to excel at the State, National and International levels.

The Anakapalli MLA Konathala Ramakrishna also emphasised providing school students with free access to the stadium during designated hours, encouraging greater participation in sports.

GVMC continues to focus on strengthening sports infrastructure and comprehensive urban development in Anakapalli, including roads, central medians, modern lighting and improved drinking-water infrastructure.
