MMRDA’s $1.5 Trillion vision for 2047
From a $140 Billion economic powerhouse to a $1.5 Trillion vision for 2047 — MMRDA is shaping one of India’s most ambitious urban transformation projects.

Speaking at 4th Edition of the Navabharat Navarashtra Magnetic Maharashtra Conclave 2026, Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, spoke about India’s first Regional Economic Master Plan, developed with NITI Aayog, and how it is laying the foundation for the future of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Driven by 7 key growth drivers including infrastructure-led development, port-linked growth, global services, tourism, sustainability and inclusive regional expansion, the plan creates a focused roadmap for Viksit MMR where connectivity becomes a catalyst for economic opportunity and balanced urban growth.

MMRDA’s integrated approach aims to create jobs, improve accessibility, strengthen regional connectivity, and position MMR as a global economic hub.

MMRDA is not just building infrastructure, it is building the foundation for the future of urban India.
