A memorable interaction between two distinguished IPS officers —M Rajamurugan, IPS, MD, Trifed, and Mukesh Kumar, IPS, DGP, Ladakh — during MD, Trifed’s visit to Ladakh recently.

During the interaction, MD, Trifed apprised DGP, Ladakh about various initiatives being undertaken by Trifed for the empowerment of tribal artisans across the country with special reference to Ladakh. Discussions focused on the empanelment of new tribal artisans, promotion of indigenous crafts, and expanding the reach of tribal products to both Indian and international markets through Trifed’s premium platforms and export initiatives.

The meeting also highlighted the immense cultural richness and untapped artisan potential of the Ladakh region. Special emphasis was laid on preserving traditional tribal crafts, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisan families, and connecting remote tribal communities with mainstream and global markets.

Such collaborations and meaningful exchanges strengthen the vision of “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, ensuring that India’s tribal heritage continues to receive the recognition it truly deserves.
