GVMC Commissioner & Additional Election Authority Ketan Garg, IAS directed officials to make comprehensive advance arrangements for the GVMC Second Ordinary General Elections–2026, ensuring that every stage of the election process is conducted smoothly, securely and without disruption.

During an inspection at the Andhra University College of Engineering campus, the Commissioner reviewed suitable locations for Election Material Distribution Centres and Counting Centres and instructed officials to prepare all necessary facilities well in advance.

Registration & reception counters; CCTV surveillance and security arrangements; Police counters and public address systems; Strong rooms and counting facilities; Food and parking arrangements; Uninterrupted power supply and adequate lighting; Safe movement and storage of election materials; Dedicated entry and exit arrangements. 

The Commissioner emphasised that department-wise action plans, responsibilities and infrastructure arrangements must be kept ready before the issuance of the election notification, enabling the election machinery to respond immediately and effectively.

He further directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that the entire election and counting process is conducted systematically, transparently and strictly in accordance with election rules and guidelines.
