The award distribution ceremony for the 'Coal Quality Fortnight 2025–26' was held today at the Cultural Centre located at the WCL Headquarters. The event was graced by the presence of WCL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, Director (Technical/Project & Planning) Sandeep Paranjpe, and Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Madhukar Mhetre. Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey presided over the function. Members of the Steering Committee—Shiv Kumar Yadav, Sharad Dhande, Ashish Murti, S H Beg, and S R Gabale—were also present on this special occasion.

Addressing the gathering, CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey emphasized the need to pay special attention to coal quality and prioritize quality improvement. He stated that caution must be exercised at every stage—from mining to utilization—to enhance coal quality. He remarked that improving quality is not merely a technical necessity but also an economic and environmental responsibility.

Director (Technical/Project & Planning) Sandeep Paranjpe also shared his views, urging for continuous efforts towards improving coal quality. S R Gabale expressed his thoughts on behalf of the WCL Steering Committee.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the singing of the national song 'Vande Mataram', and the Coal India corporate song. Deepak Walke, General Manager (Quality), administered the quality pledge and delivered the welcome address.

Awards were presented in various categories to personnel, mines, and areas demonstrating excellence in the field of coal quality. This year, the 'Overall Coal Quality Award' was conferred upon the Pathakheda Area (for underground mines) and the Umrer Area (for open-cast mines).

A large number of WCL Area General Managers, Headquarters General Managers, Heads of Departments, officers, and employees attended the event. Milind Chahande, Manager (Public Relations), conducted the proceedings and proposed the vote of thanks. The program concluded with the national anthem.
