Vice-President of India, C P Radhakrishnan, inaugurated the Centenary Conference of the UPASI Tea Research Foundation at Coonoor, The Nilgiris.

Addressing scientists, planters, and leaders, he urged the sector to modernise processing infrastructure, deepen sustained R&D, shift focus from bulk exports to global brand building and prioritise worker welfare alongside industrial growth

The Vice-President also unveiled the commemorative volume, "Tea Research in South India: A Compendium", in the presence of Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, C Murugan, Deputy Chairman, Tea Board of India, Bhojarajan, MLA, Udhagamandalam and senior dignitaries.
