Engineering Reliability at Scale: The Next Phase of Heavy Haul Railways organised jointly by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India Limited (DFCCIL) and the Centre for Heavy Haul Rail Research & Development (CHHRR&D), the International Heavy Haul Seminar 2026 commenced today at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, bringing together global railway leaders, policymakers, industry experts, researchers, and technology innovators to deliberate on the future of heavy haul rail transportation.

The inaugural session featured a welcome address by Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, followed by keynote addresses from R Mohanraja, Secretary, Railway Board, and Sachinder Mohan Sharma, Principal Executive Director/Coaching, Railway Board, and Ms Kari Gonzales, President & CEO, MXV Rail, USA, and President, International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA) . The speakers highlighted the critical role of innovation, technology, capacity enhancement, and international collaboration in shaping the next generation of freight rail systems.

A key highlight of the inaugural session was the unveiling of the technical Compendium, showcasing technical papers, research insights, and global best practices that will contribute to shaping the next generation of heavy haul railway operations.

Over the next two days, the seminar will serve as a premier platform for knowledge exchange, strategic dialogue, and collaboration on emerging technologies, infrastructure advancements, operational efficiency, and sustainable freight mobility.
