Appointment of CMD, CEL: File of Narayan gathering dust at ACC
The file of Shankar Narayan, General Manager, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), for the appointment as Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Central Electronics Limited (CEL) is reported to be gathering dust at the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) for its approval.
Shankar Narayan, who was selected for the vacant post of CMD, CEL by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on October 29, 2025, is still awaited for ACC approval. It’s an inordinate delay in the appointment.
Chetan Prakash Jain, an Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS) of 1994 batch officer, is holding an additional charge of this post.
Central Electronics Limited (CEL) is a Government of India Enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology.
CEL is a pioneer in the country in the field of Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) and it has developed the technology with its own R&D efforts. Its solar products have been qualified to International Standards IEC 61215/61730.
