Abject misery of NTC Staff; not paid salaries for ten months
National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC), a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Textiles, is staggering under an acute financial crisis with depriving employees and officers of monthly salaries.

According to sources, the NTC has failed to pay monthly salaries to the employees and officers for around the last ten months. Not only this, the staff members have also been not allowed to switch over for a better career opportunity. As a result, the career of the staff members is driven in the doldrums with posing a serious threat to their survival.

It is noteworthy that the NTC, which enjoyed a prosperous era, has so far closed 77 mills and transferred two mills in the State of Pondicherry to the State Government.

All nine subsidiary companies have been merged with NTC Head office, located at New Delhi, making it into a single Company with effect from April 1, 2006. Presently, Ms Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, is looking after an additional charge of the NTC. There is no full-time CMD in the company for a long time.
