WCL sets new record on International Yoga Day
The main event was held in a grand and dignified atmosphere at the WCL Headquarters, Indora Parade Ground, Nagpur. Enthusiastic participation was witnessed from WCL’s Chairman-cum-Managing Director Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, along with Directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, Steering Committee members, officers, employees, their families, and a large number of yoga practitioners.
Padma Dr. Uma Shankar Pandey ('Jal Prahari') graced the occasion as the distinguished guest. He practiced yoga alongside the WCL family, inspiring everyone to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, and lent special dignity to the event with his motivating guidance. Impressed by the grand organization of the event, he honored WCL CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey and Smt. Reena Pandey, President of the Jhankar Mahila Mandal, by draping them with shawls and conveyed his best wishes for the successful event.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the rendition of the national song 'Vande Mataram' and the Coal India corporate song. The yoga session was conducted by Chief Yoga Instructor Sachin Mathurkar and his team. All participants practiced various asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol. The program concluded with a peace invocation and a collective meditation session, conveying the message of a healthy, positive, and conscious lifestyle.
Following the yoga session, Ms K P Prajitha and Akshay Ghosh, General Manager (IED) at WCL, delivered outstanding yoga presentations. Subsequently, the trained WCL Headquarters yoga group, led by Smt. Reena Pandey (President, Jhankar Mahila Mandal), presented an engaging and impressive yoga demonstration that captivated the audience.
Winners of various yoga competitions organized to mark International Yoga Day were felicitated by Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey, Padma Dr. Uma Shankar Pandey, Directors, the Chief Vigilance Officer, members of the organizing committee, and other guests. Additionally, special honors were bestowed upon the yoga instructors and the headquarters yoga group in recognition of their excellent contributions.
In his address, Dr. Hemant Sharad Pandey remarked that yoga is an invaluable part of India's cultural heritage, now being embraced by the entire world. He noted that regular yoga practice strengthens physical and mental health, enhances work efficiency, and inspires a stress-free life. He urged all officers and employees to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine, thereby further strengthening a healthy, safe, and productive work culture.
The event was graced by the presence of Smt. Reena Pandey (President, Jhankar Mahila Mandal), along with Vice-Presidents Smt. Archana Prasad, Smt. Shruti Paranjpe, and Dr. Sonali Mhetre. Also present were WCL Director (Finance) Bikram Ghosh, Director (Technical/Operations) Anandji Prasad, Director (Technical/Planning & Projects) Sandeep Paranjpe, Chief Vigilance Officer Ajay Madhukar Mhetre, and organizing committee members—Sarvashri Shiv Kumar Yadav, Ashish Murti, S H Beg, AP Singh, Ramesh Ballewar, and Satish Gabale.
