Dr Hemant Sharad Pande, CMD, WCL along with Sandeep S. Paranjape, Director Technical (Projects & Planning), WCL visited Saoner Mine No. 1 of Nagpur Area for the commencement of coal cutting operations through a Continuous Miner. The event is especially significant as it marks the first deployment of a Continuous Miner in the Nagpur Area.

The coal cutting operation was formally inaugurated in the presence of CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande, marking an important milestone for Saoner Mine No. 1 and the start of mechanized coal production. Harshad Dattar, Area General Manager, Nagpur Area and Aroop Banerjee, Sub Area Manager, Saoner Sub Area were also present on this occasion.

During the visit, CMD Dr. Hemant Sharad Pande highlighted the importance of safe and efficient mining practices and the use of modern technology. He appreciated the efforts and dedication of the workforce and encouraged everyone to continue working with a strong focus on safety, productivity, and teamwork.

Dr. Pande also interacted with employees and motivated them to achieve higher production targets while maintaining operational excellence. He expressed confidence that Saoner Mine No. 1 would become a model mine through collective effort, discipline, and commitment.

The CMD also reviewed the mining arrangements and stated that the introduction of the Continuous Miner would improve productivity, enhance efficiency, and ensure safer working conditions. He reiterated WCL’s commitment to sustainable growth and better operational performance.
