THDC: Lowering of the Runner with Shaft of Unit1
Sipan Kumar Garg, MD, THDCIL conveyed his congratulations to Team VPHEP on this achievement. Garg stated that the accomplishment demonstrates the unwavering commitment, technical excellence, and effective coordination of the THDCIL team and all associated agencies in executing complex Electro-Mechanical works.
The lowering of the Runner with Shaft is among the most critical milestones in the installation of a hydroelectric generating unit. The Runner is the principal rotating component of a hydro turbine, designed to convert the hydraulic energy of flowing water into mechanical rotational energy, which is subsequently transformed into electrical energy by the generator.
Ajay Verma, ED (VPHEP) described the successful lowering of the runner as a landmark achievement. He expressed confidence that the project team will achieve the remaining milestones leading to the successful commissioning of the project.
The milestone was marked in the presence of Ajay Verma, Executive Director (VPHEP) and Ravindra Singh Rana, General Manager (Electro-Mechanical) along with other senior THDCIL officers, M/s. BHEL & M/s. HCC officials and dedicated members of the project.
