'Swachhata Pakhwada-2026' launched at NCL Nigahi Area
In compliance with directives received from the Ministry of Coal (Government of India) and NCL Headquarters, 'Swachhata Pakhwada-2026' was launched today at NCL’s Nigahi Project. The fortnight-long campaign commenced with General Manager (Nigahi) Rajendra Verma administering the 'Swachhata Pledge' (Cleanliness Pledge) to all officers, employees, and other participants present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Verma stated that Swachhata Pakhwada is not merely a campaign but a national resolve to build a clean, healthy, and sustainable future. He emphasized that cleanliness is directly linked to human health, environmental conservation, workplace productivity, and the quality of life.
During the event, Verma urged all officers and employees to adopt eco-friendly alternatives while minimizing the use of single-use plastic. He particularly appreciated the growing awareness regarding the environment and cleanliness among the new generation, noting that the active participation of children and youth could make the cleanliness movement even more effective.
Staff Officer (HR) Gaurav Bajpai outlined the various programs scheduled under Swachhata Pakhwada-2026. He informed the gathering that activities such as voluntary cleanliness drives (Shramdaan), tree plantation, sapling distribution, public awareness rallies, street plays (Nukkad Natak), cleanliness awareness campaigns, community engagement programs, and various environmental conservation initiatives would be organized during the fortnight. He urged all Nigahi personnel to ensure their active participation in this national campaign.
Regional Heads of Departments, representatives of trade unions and CMOAI, along with a large number of officers and employees, were present at the event. It is noteworthy that a 'Swachhata Pakhwada' (Cleanliness Fortnight) will be organized at the Nigahi Project from June 16, 2026, to June 30, 2026; during this period, various awareness and public participation-based programs will be conducted with the aim of promoting cleanliness, environmental conservation, and community involvement.
