Steering committee meeting on creation of Digital Public Infrastructure
Key points reviewed and discussed: Farmer Registry has crossed 12.9 lakh Farmer IDs, achieving 51.9% saturation against the State target of 24.87 lakh farmers; Digital Crop Survey has been scaled across the State, with over 40.42 lakh plots surveyed across 30 districts during Kharif and Rabi 2025-26; Assam has received ₹177.33 crore in incentives from Government of India under various milestones of the Digital Agriculture Mission; More than 16,343 geo-referenced village maps have been prepared, while work on an additional 4,726 village maps is in progress; Reviewed operationalisation of the Agri Stack State Core and proposals for establishing dedicated technical and institutional mechanisms for implementation; Deliberated on creation of an Agri Stack Commissionerate for coordinated implementation of Digital Agriculture initiatives in the State; Discussed inclusion of FRA pattaholders, cultivators in char and riverine areas and small tea growers within the Farmer Registry framework to ensure wider coverage of beneficiaries; Reviewed progress of RoR-Farmer Registry synchronisation, geo-referencing activities and farm boundary mapping in autonomous council areas.
Emphasised the need for timely implementation of all pending reforms and greater inter-departmental convergence to institutionalise a robust Digital Public Infrastructure for agriculture, laying the foundation for data-driven decision-making, improved beneficiary targeting and accelerated agricultural development in Assam.
