SECL Director (HR) participates in BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit
Organised under the overarching theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," India's BRICS Chairship reflects a people-centric and future-oriented approach aimed at strengthening collaboration among BRICS nations across key areas including economic resilience, technological innovation, sustainable development and inclusive growth.
During a panel discussion on "Best Practices in BRICS+ Countries," Das shared Coal India's human resource and employee welfare initiatives, highlighting the company's people-centric approach for one of India's largest workforces of over 2.2 lakh employees. He spoke about initiatives aimed at employee welfare, women empowerment, skill development and the maintenance of healthy industrial relations, which have contributed to a collaborative and progressive work environment.
Drawing from SECL's experience, Das also highlighted how focused Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are creating meaningful social impact in coal-bearing regions. He cited flagship programmes such as "SECL Ke Sushrut," which provides free NEET coaching to deserving students, and "SECL Ki Dhadkan," a programme supporting life-saving treatment for children with congenital heart disease, as examples of sustainable community development beyond mining operations.
The three-day BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit brought together more than 50 international delegates and around 70 representatives of Indian trade unions, labour experts and academicians. The forum served as an important platform for dialogue on the future of work, labour welfare and inclusive economic development. Deliberations focused on four key themes—universal social security and portability of benefits, human-centric technology and responsible AI, skill development for the future of work, and women in the changing world of work.
