SECI participates in ICRA infrastructure & corporate conclave 2026
During the panel discussion on Renewables at Scale: Grid Resilience, Storage & Investment Outlook, Joshit Ranjan Sikidar, Director (Finance), SECI, shared insights on the recent progress in signing Power Sale Agreements (PSAs) with DISCOMs, the payment security mechanism available in the renewable energy ecosystem and the evolving investment outlook for renewable energy.
He highlighted that SECI has signed around 5 GW of PSAs during the current financial year, reflecting continued progress in facilitating the offtake of renewable power by State Distribution Utilities.
Speaking on the competitiveness of renewable energy, Sikidar stated that in the recent Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) bid, SECI discovered a tariff of ₹5.25 per unit, which is significantly competitive compared with the tariff of new thermal power plants. He further highlighted that the FDRE tariff would remain fixed for 25 years, whereas the variable component of thermal power tariffs is expected to increase over time.
He also emphasised SECI’s strong payment track record, stating that SECI has been making timely payments to its renewable energy developers. This consistent payment discipline has contributed significantly to the high bankability and strong market confidence in SECI’s PPAs.
The panel discussion highlighted the growing role of renewable energy, storage and innovative procurement mechanisms in strengthening grid resilience and supporting India’s transition towards a reliable, competitive and sustainable energy system.
