By posting V Suresh as CMD MOIL and T N Natarajan as D(C) SAIL, Steel Ministry has cleared decks for promoting tainted officers and posting them in key positions
Today is July 24, 2026 and a board meeting of SAIL is scheduled. As all the directors of SAIL would gather in New Delhi today, the opportunity would be utilised to finalise the list of the officers would be promoted from GM (General Manager- E7 Grade) to CGM (Chief General Manager-E8 Grade) across all the units of SAIL. The promotion orders are likely to be issued tomorrow or day after.
As far as the sales and marketing unit of SAIL Central Marketing Organisation is concerned, the call on the promotions would be taken by the Director (Commercial) T N Natarajan, who was also the member of the interview board. It is a matter of utter surprise that Natarajan who is deeply embroiled in sales to Fake Projects during his tenure as Regional Manager of Western Region, will decide the promotions. The blatant and glaring part of his official conduct is that he was instrumental in selling steel products to various Fake Projects after the complaint of Venkatesh Infra Projects P Ltd was in his knowledge and knowledge of SAIL.

Earlier his extraordinary effort of sales to Fake Projects has been duly acknowledged and rewarded by the SAIL management. From BM/Trichy, he was made Key Account Manager for a few major accounts of SAIL. Then he was elevated to Regional Business Manager (Flat Products) for the Western Region. Witnessing his audacity to sell steel to FAKE Projects even after the Venkatesh Complaint, in July 2023 given the charge of Regional Manager of Western Region and subsequently he was promoted to CGM and made full-fledged Regional Manager of Western Region. He crossed all the limits and kept selling to the FAKE Projects after LOKPAL order dated Jan 10, 2024 also, which was duly recognised by selecting him for the post of Director (Commercial) of SAIL.
