REC Ltd., the nodal agency for the implementation of the Government of India's Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), conducted a 2-day quality assurance workshop in Guwahati from 2nd to 3rd July 2026. The workshop brought together officials from APDCL, Arunachal-PD, MePDCL, Nagaland-PD, MSPDCL, Mizoram-PD, and TSECL, reinforcing quality standards and best practices for effective RDSS implementation.

A key component of the program was field and store visits to RDSS project sites to assess workmanship and showcase best practices on the ground. The workshop covered deliberation on inspection practices, Standard Bidding Document (SBD) compliance, geo-tagging, defect rectification, and strategies for strengthening quality outcomes in power distribution infrastructure.

The workshop was held in the presence of Bijoy Sankar Baruah, Chief General Manager (Projects, Planning & Design) & Nodal Officer RDSS (APDCL); Yogendra Singh, General Manager & HoD (PMD–Quality), REC Limited; Uttam Kumar Bargayary, Chief Manager (RO-Guwahati); Pankaj Kapsimay, Chief Manager (PMD-Quality) and Aurabind Pal, Manager (RO-Guwahati).

The event witnessed active participation from DISCOM officials, turnkey contractors (TKCs), third-party quality monitoring agencies (TPQMAs), & PMAs, fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening inter-institutional coordination for the delivery of quality power infrastructure under RDSS.
