Ports Additional Secretary inaugurates two Atmospheric Water Generators
Mukesh Mangal, ITS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, inaugurated two Atmospheric Water Generators (AWGs) near the Red Gate, in the presence of Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson; Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson; and senior Port officials.

Developed by Maithri Aquatech in partnership with CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), the AWGs have a capacity of 250 litres per day and utilise multi-level filtration, sediment/carbon filters and UV filtration to produce safe drinking water directly from atmospheric humidity.

The initiative reduces dependence on groundwater, tankers and packaged drinking water, while contributing to sustainable water management, ESG goals and resource conservation—further strengthening VOC Port’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable Port of the Future.
