Jute Corporation MD meets Union Minister
During the meeting, Sanjay Kumar Panigrahi, Managing Director, The Jute Corporation of India Limited (JCI), along with Kalyan Mazumdar, General Manager, JCI, briefed the Minister on JCI’s initiatives for the welfare of jute farmers and the overall development of the jute sector. The discussion highlighted that West Bengal contributes nearly 80% of India’s raw jute production and explored measures to further strengthen the industry.
A key point of discussion was the promotion of Jute Geo-Textiles (JGT) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for rural road construction. This eco-friendly technical fabric enhances the durability and longevity of rural roads while creating additional demand for raw jute, directly benefiting farmers.
The Minister appreciated JCI’s initiatives and assured his full support for the growth of the jute sector and the welfare of jute farmers.
