IRTS Officer Who Proves Dynamic Leadership
Anup Satpathy, one of the most popular, most well known and most respected Railwaymen had a short and sweet tenure as Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM), North Eastern Railway (NER) at Gorakhpur. Satpathy, who belongs to a 1993 batch IRTS officer, proves his mettle wherever he is posted. During his posting as DRM, Waltair (Visakhapatnam), he made many reforms in the division. Satpathy is still remembered by the division for outstanding jobs and legacy he left. He had started his career from Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh as the Area Manager where he is treated as a hero till date for streamlining train running and for neutralizing the mafia which dominated Railways in that part. Then, he had a trail blazing career spanning over three decades dotted with achievements, challenges, hurdles and struggles. He was awarded at the Zonal and National levels multiple times for his works in the most difficult Naxalite affected Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railways. Then, for many years over SECR he got laurels for every post that he held and earned a reputation for his quick decisions, strong opinions, no-nonsense ways, unique personality, customer centric outlook, courageous responses and protective behavior towards junior officers and staff. As the CGM of the Central Region of Container Corp of India he took many path breaking actions to retain and attract business for Concor, ward off competition and commission MMLPs at New Raipur and Nagpur etc. As ADRM of Nagpur Division of CRly he physically supervised the Oxygen trains flowing into Central India risking his own life. The net result is that this dynamic, outspoken and straight forward officer has become a "owner's pride and neighbors' envy" material. While his juniors, staff and customers love and respect him, many of his jealous colleagues and incompetent bosses keep conspiring to malign, sidelined and humiliate him. The recent transfer to SECR as PCSO has the following background.
