The study calls for a segment-specific approach, recognising the complementary roles of CNG, LNG, CBG and EVs based on vehicle category, operating conditions, infrastructure readiness and lifecycle performance.
Speaking at the forum, Mohit Bhatia, Director (Commercial), IGL, highlighted the significant potential of CNG in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment. He emphasised the need for assured fuel availability, 24×7 online stations, full-pressure supply and fast-refuelling infrastructure across freight corridors.
He further underlined that CGD companies must evolve into multi-energy mobility providers, with future-ready infrastructure capable of supporting CNG, CBG, EV charging and hydrogen blending.
