Roopwant Singh, IAS, Managing Director, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd. (GMDC), chaired a Plenary Session on "Developing Credible Transition Plans & Driving Decarbonization," organised by The Institute of Directors, India (IOD) on 3rd July at GIFT City, Gandhinagar.

During the session address, he shared his perspective on the importance of adopting lower-carbon pathways to support India's sustainable growth. Highlighting Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) as a cleaner and more efficient approach to utilising coal resources, he spoke about its potential to reduce the carbon footprint of conventional mining while contributing to the nation's evolving energy needs that GMDC is currently perusing to establish both in Gujarat and Odisha.
