Damodar Valley Corporation celebrated its 79th Foundation Day with a grand evening programme at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, New Town, bringing together employees, dignitaries and stakeholders to commemorate years of dedicated service to the nation. The evening began with Ganesh Vandana, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and the playing of the DVC Geet, as the gathering joined in paying tribute to the Corporation's legacy. Dr DV Rajan, Additional Secretary, DVC, formally welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering, reflecting on the Corporation's remarkable journey and achievements over the years.

A key highlight of the evening was the R&R Ceremony, where outstanding projects, teams and employees were recognised for their exemplary contributions during FY 2025–26.

The evening also witnessed the unveiling of the DVC Ideacon Book, a compilation of innovative ideas submitted by employees from various departments under this year's Ideacon initiative.

Gurdeep Singh, Chairman, DVC, addressed the gathering by appreciating the dedication, hard work and enthusiasm of every employee who has contributed to making DVC the organisation it is today. He encouraged the DVC fraternity to continue striving for excellence while outlining the Corporation's vision of achieving 7.6 GW of power generation capacity by 2032. He highlighted DVC's focus on expanding thermal, hydro and non-conventional energy generation, including floating solar power projects, as well as the proposed addition of two units each at Koderma and Raghunathpur, along with a new 800 MW thermal power project at Durgapur.

The DVC Women's Association reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare by making donations to various NGOs and old age homes in support of welfare activities.

The celebrations concluded with a captivating Musical Night by the legendary Usha Uthup and her troupe, whose energetic performance enthralled the audience and added a memorable cultural touch to the evening. The programme culminated with the singing of the National Anthem, bringing DVC's 79th Foundation Day celebrations to a fitting close.
