Shyam Jagannathan, IAS, Director General of Maritime Administration, delivered the Keynote Address as Chief Guest at an Online Seminar on the Merchant Shipping Act, 2025 on July 24, 2026, organised by Indian Maritime Center in collaboration with FOSMA.

During his address, DG (MA) highlighted India’s transformative maritime reforms aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework for a globally competitive shipping industry. The seminar focused on key provisions of the new legislative framework, ease of doing business initiatives, digitalisation of maritime services, promotion of Indian tonnage, and the future of sustainable maritime growth.

A detailed presentation was delivered by Ash Mohomad, Deputy Director General of Maritime Administration, covering the Merchant Shipping Act, 2025 and its key provisions. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where queries from maritime stakeholders were comprehensively addressed.
