Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, VO Chidambaranar Port Authority, welcomed Dr. Sujata Chaudhary, Additional Director General of Health Services, DGHS, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Dr S Senthilnathan, Deputy Director General (International Health), DGHS, MoHFW, during the first official visit of the Central DGHS team to VOC Port.

The meeting, attended by the Heads of Departments, Port Health Officer Dr. Poornima and her team, focused on reviewing and strengthening preparedness measures for the emerging Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Key discussions covered disease surveillance, early detection, infection prevention and control, emergency response preparedness, capacity building of healthcare professionals, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure readiness for potential public health emergencies.

The visit reaffirmed VOC Port Authority's commitment to maintaining robust public health preparedness through proactive planning, coordinated action, and close collaboration with national health authorities, reinforcing the Port's readiness to effectively respond to emerging health challenges.
