Chakan and Talegaon’s Connectivity: MIDC in Action
The inspection focused on addressing immediate traffic and road-related challenges while closely reviewing the planned capacity augmentation of the corridor.
The existing two-lane road is proposed to be transformed through a combination of four-lane at-grade and four-lane elevated stretches from Talegaon to Chakan, and a six-lane at-grade road from Chakan to Shikrapur.
However, after detailed interaction with locals and various stakeholders, the administration has made it clear that commuters and industry cannot be expected to wait for the final infrastructure upgrade.
In the interim, agencies will continue to undertake regular maintenance of the existing road, including timely attention to potholes and other road-related requirements, so that the corridor remains as safe and functional as possible while the proposed development progresses.
In coordination with the Pune District Administration, efforts are also being undertaken to streamline parking along the corridor, including encouraging heavy vehicles to use their designated parking spaces within the truck terminal. These measures are intended to support smoother traffic movement and make more effective use of the available road capacity.
The inspection also covered the NH-60 Nashik Phata–Khed–Rajgurunagar corridor, spanning approximately 29.92 km. The ongoing plans for lane augmentation along the corridor were reviewed, with emphasis on progressing these improvements in a timely manner while keeping traffic movement as smooth and efficient as possible during the transition.
The message from the leadership is unequivocal:
Maintain what exists. Accelerate what is planned. Remove what obstructs and act before congestion becomes a crisis.
