A significant highlight of the 56th Foundation Day celebrations of the Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI) was the exchange of three strategic MoUs in the presence of the Union Minister of Textiles, Giriraj Singh; Ministers from the Government of Maharashtra—Sanjay Shirsat, Sanjay Savkare and Atul Save; Ms. Padmini Singla, Joint Secretary (Fibre), Ministry of Textiles; Mrs Vrunda Manohar Desai, Textile Commissioner; Lalit Kumar Gupta, CMD, CCI; senior officials of the Central and State Governments; farmer representatives; and stakeholders from across the cotton value chain. These MoUs will strengthen capacity building in seed cotton processing, promote sustainability, traceability and market access under Kasturi Cotton Bharat, and advance climate-smart cotton cultivation through carbon credit initiatives, leading to better price realization and enhanced income opportunities for farmers, improved quality and competitiveness of Indian cotton, and a stronger, more sustainable and globally competitive textile value chain.
